Weird World War: Russia's Super Soldiers

With that in mind here's a little something from Wired's Danger Room: Captain America, Meet Mother Russia. Pravda would have us believe Soviet Super Science created a unit of cyborgs to face the Nazi menace.
So, what happened to them? Where were they during the Cold War? Seems the Atom Bomb made them obsolete.
